The Most Wonderful Time of the Year: College Football Edition

When I first heard this music on a football commercial, I was a little ticked. I had wanted to use this song as the closer on my Christmas program. Now, I wondered if this would ruin it. I decided to embrace it and show this video to my classes as the introduction to their final song on the program. It worked like a charm. The the boys love it now. And if the boys love it, the girls are fine. :o) Enjoy!

NElovesPS | Five With Mike Musil, English & Language Arts

I was so blessed last year to be one of the teachers highlighted in the Nebraska Loves Our Public Schools Campaign. Here is a another story of a teach making a difference in the lives of his students!

Bach, Toccata and Fugue in D minor, organ

We are playing a spoof of this piece on kazoos today in 5th-6th grades.
This is such an interesting visual representation!

She'll Be Comin Round the Mountain

NPR : Home on the Range, Present at the Creation

I think Nebraska has the most wonderful state song of all 50 states; in fact, I fought to preserve "Beautiful Nebraska" in 2004! With help from the good folks of this state, we were able to do just that! Whew!

Beside Nebraska, Kasas has a pretty wonderful state song as well, "Home on the Range," words by Dr. Brewester Higley and music by Daniel Kelley. Here is a site that shares a few tidbits about it's history. 6th graders are writing their own verses this week! Pretty cool

Silent Night - Recorders - 4th Graders

4th graders are playing Silent Night for our Holiday program. The entire school will be signing it while they play. I've done this once in the past and just love the effect. A student leader will be chosen for recorders and I will be leading the sign language. If parents/students want to get the accompaniment for the piece, you can find it here:
Silent Night At MK8 KidTunes's a great place for sign language:
